Bird of Legend (Galbingaa)

I created this painting in 2017, inspired by the impression I received from a human-bird figure found in an ancient burial discovery in Zaamar soum, Töv Province, dating back to the 7th century, currently preserved in the Museum of Fine Arts. It also draws from artifacts unearthed in the ancient capital of Kharkhorin.

According to numerous legends, the Galbingaa is a celestial being that visits the earth and guides human souls to paradise. It is said to sing in the language of divine joy and produces only one egg every ten thousand years.
